Celebrating Wool Week

I love to knit with wool and am celebrating Wool Week with a 10% Off coupon: WOOLWEEK12 - to use with any pure wool purchase from my shop until Sunday 12 October: ClickClackKnits Shop

I have lots of designs for both men and women, beanies, slouch, cabled and pom pom hats, cowls, boot cuffs and fingerless gloves. Wool is luxurious to wear.

Wool is natural, keeps you warm and seems to last forever and when it has finally come to the end of it's life it is biodegradable which makes it Eco Friendly.

The Campaign for Wool was started by HRH the Prince of Wales, to help raise awareness of the unique, sustainable and practical uses of wool.

I realise that not everyone can wear wool and therefore include man made yarn in my collection as well.

Autumn Has Definitely Arrived

Well the days are now so much shorter and cooler I'm guessing that the Indian summer we were expecting in September isn't coming after all. My log fire in the front room has been lit 3 times over the last 2 weeks, it makes it feel so nice and cosy that all I want to do it knit.

I have added a new range of Fingerless gloves for the fall and winter, I wear these a lot so thought they would be a great addition to our collection.

These are knit in a beautiful mix of Merino wool and Alpaca. This is a really soft and warm yarn. You can check out the listing here:
Fingerless Gloves

I have many different styles in both wool and acrylic.

These are knit in a beautiful British chunky pure wool. I love bright colours.  You can check out the listing here:

These are fun and quirky gloves knit in a mix of acrylic chunky yarns. Super warm and longer. Check out the listing here:

These are knit in a self patterning acrylic yarn with a cable design. Cabled Fingerless Gloves

More designs will be added over the next week, just got to go and light the fire again and start knitting!

Thought for the day - which is just what I think about my fire.

Watching the Great North Run and Knitting

Sitting watching the Great North Run on the TV and knitting. The millionth runner will cross the finish line soon and make history as this is the first time any event in the world has achieved this.I can't believe 33 years ago I watched the first ever GNR and we were the only people standing looking over one of the bridges just before the Tyne Bridge, now there are 10's of thousands of people watching along the whole of the 13.1 miles. I don't think anyone ever believed it would become part of history and known worldwide. My eldest son (who was 3 when it began) and daughter and my niece have all taken part.  My middle daughter is there today cheering on the runners for Cancer Research and has been supporting the runners of different charities for the last 4 years.  There's nothing like the atmosphere of being at the Finish line to watch your children and everyone else complete the race it is so emotional and uplifting.

Wimbledon and Knitting

My favourite fortnight of the year, Wimbledon starts today! I have been watching this for over 40 years, I even used to take 2 weeks holiday when I worked for someone else. I have all my wools and designs ready to knit.  When a match becomes really exciting I knit faster, I don't know if anyone else does this :)

I have just finished a new design crop top, they are so easy to wear by themselves or over a vest top.

Will be knitting more designs over the next two weeks.  You can see the full listing details in my SHOP.

Also a new pure DK natural undyed British wool beanie hat.

Well only 5 minutes to go until Andy Murray comes onto court, have a great day.

Current Knitting Projects

I am currently in the process of making two new items for my SHOP. Knitting a classic beanie hat using a British Sheep Breeds DK which is spun using wool from the Bluefaced Leicester, Suffolk or Jacob creating a beautiful natural undyed yarn.

Also knitting a red and white striped sweater similar to the one worn by the Where's Wally Waldo character.  This was the first item I ever sold online along with the hat to a journalist in France about 8 years ago! Sleeves are made and starting on the body. For some reason I knit the sleeves first which I never do usually.

Both of these will be added to my SHOP later this week.  I do have the yellow and black sweater similar to the one worn by Odlaw in the Where's Wally Waldo books already available in my listings. One of my customers bought this to look like a bumble bee :)

International Space Station

Over the last week we have watched the international space station pass over our house 3 times, it was awesome. Shame we were not able to get a clear photo. I wonder how many other people have been doing the same.

In this photo provided by NASA, the SpaceX Dragon capsule is berthed at the International Space Station Sunday April 20, 2014 as photographed by the Expedition 39 crew members onboard the orbital outpost. Two NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station will conduct a spacewalkWednesday April 23, 2014 to replace a failed backup computer relay system on the space station's truss. (AP Photo/NASA)

Also saw Mars through our telescope in the very early hours of the morning. We have a beautiful photograph we took of the moon last year through our telescope and had it printed on to canvas as it looks so surreal.  It's great looking at the sky in the summer as it's warm but you do have to stay up until the early hours.  The winter is too cold for me!

Wonder what we will see tonight, well if I can stay awake long enough.

Books, tennis, knitting and new hats

I have just finished reading The New Watch which is the latest book in the series by Sergei Lukyanenko. It was brilliant as are all the others. It only took me one night of insomnia and a day to read!

Watched the French Open Tennis final on Sunday but unfortunately like a lot of other viewers was watching on ITV 1 and had it on pause for 10 minutes so didn't realise the last game was only shown on ITV 4 so missed it!! I can't understand why they would change channels at that point of the match at least wait until the set was completed but luckily managed to switch over to see the presentations.

With all the tennis that's on at the moment, Queen's and then Wimbledon I can knit all day :) love tennis and knitting so a great few weeks for me!

A new collection of crochet beanies have been added to my shop ClickClackKnits

Also new cotton, bamboo and linen hats, perfect for the sun we are having now and more will be added over the next week ClickClackKnits

Reversible 80% Bamboo, 20% Wool slouchy beanie hat.

Making Jam Today, Knitting later.

My daughter and I decided to make rhubarb jam today with the last of the rhubarb from a neighbour's garden (they don't like it!). We have just finished peeling 750g of rhubarb added the sugar, lemon juice and ginger now it has to soak for 3 hours then only 7 to 10 mins cooking time.  How easy is that.

The recipe is here if anyone would like to try it:

Bright Knits

Had a busy week knitting infinity scarves, hats and headbands. Also managed to finish my latest book, I remember when I read at least 3 books a week, now I hope to finish one. I did try once to use a book stand but as I read as fast as I knit I spent more time turning pages, the same with my E-reader - I still prefer 'real' books.  This was a new author for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it and will buy the rest in the series.  It's nice finding new authors that are good, unfortunately not all of them are!
